Plant a survival garden and always have your healthy stash of edibles. Forget waiting around for an apocalypse… catastrophe has already hit. You’re better of with home grown than store-bought food for many reasons.
What is a survival garden anyway?
I suppose this depends on who you ask. Essentially a survival garden is just what it sounds like – it’s your fresh and trusty source of home-grown and nutrient-dense, real and healthy food.
Why you would want a survival garden
The reasons for a survival garden, or a garden in general are plenty:
- Fresh food in case of catastrophe
- Healthier food than you’ll find in the store
- Abundance in your own backyard
- Self sufficiency
How to plan your survival garden
Pre-planning – some questions to ask yourself before beginning the planning process:
- Do you want it hidden or out in the open and accessible to everyone?
- What are you willing to put into it? A little or a lot of time (and/or money)
- Think about location – should it be easily accessible to the kitchen?
- What are the sun and shade patterns throughout the day on your site?
- What about pets and pests?
