Selling plants on Etsy is pretty simple once you see the abundant opportunities surrounding you!
Many plants are VERY easy to propagate, especially here in Florida. Additionally, many homeowners and apartment dwellers want to buy cute houseplants in cute containers. Few want to get their hands dirty or source the materials to construct their own.
I see an opportunity here.
How to start selling plants on Etsy
Getting started with selling plants online is as simple as getting started! Sound redundant?
Step 1: Decide what plants you’ll sell
You can buy a plant from a nursery and propagate it into many plants. You can go foraging in your local landscape and begin rooting some clones. You can get a wholesale license and buy from a grower, then resell. Choose one of these options, and get to experimenting.
Step 2: Learn to propagate
Usually this is as simple as clipping a plant part and setting it in water for a few weeks. Some plants are easier than others, so it’s worth some experimenting.
Step 3: Create your Etsy seller account
I won’t get into the weeds here of how to set that up, since I’m more focused on the growing aspect.
Step 4: Make that money!
Opportunity is limitless once you decide what you’re selling and come up with systems to make the process easy. This is where I am in my journey — narrowing my focus and streamlining the process.
